Rapper, singer-songwriter, producer, and performer, MIGUTI fuses the Hip Hop expression in an acoustic soundtrack with notes of Fado, Flamenco, Latin, Pop, and Ballads in an original show, for string quartet or guitar and piano, with an audience-engaging and theatrical performance about love and hope.
Miguel Gutierrez, formerly “Guti o Espanhol” and now “MIGUTI”, born in Seville in 1988 and having grown up in Almada with his Portuguese mother and Spanish grandmother, MIGUTI was exposed to different Iberian aesthetics as a child, from the cries of Fado and Flamenco songs to the contagious energy of Sevillanas to the Portuguese Rock of the 90s, until in the 2000s discovered the rhythm of his heart with Hip Hop made in Portugal.
In 2004, MIGUTI created the band “La Dupla” with rapper Nessa – which would also be joined by DJ X-Acto, Nuno Faria (Afonsinhos do Condado) and Gilsongee (Black Side) and would tour all across Portugal, showcasing the albums “EP – A Apresentação” (2006), “EP – A Caminho do Palco Principal” (2009), and the LP “Espanhol&Nessa” (2012), with special guest appearances such as Aline Frazão, Bambino (Black Company), Chullage, Dino D’Santiago, Fernando Rodrigues (UHF), Sam The Kid, SP Deville or Romi Anauel (Terrakota).
In 2012, he released his solo debut under the heteronym “Guti o Espanhol” editing the conceptual mixtapes “Descodificando Sam The Kid” (2012) with the support of Antena 3 and “Dope Tipo D.O.D.” (2012), which would explain the networking created during the first tour in the United States of America, becoming the first Portuguese rapper to perform at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. Names like Talib Kwali, DJ A-Track, Araab Muzik, Brother Ali or comedian Reggie Wats appear in interludes, culminating in the special participation of Phesto D, from the mythical Oakland Hip-Hop group, Souls of Mischief.
In 2013, MIGUTI migrated to Dubai with the ambition to create conditions to create his own production company (acordamúsica) and the dreamed project that would reflect his family influences in a Hip Hop aesthetic but orchestrated as if with the musical magic of Disney classics.
In 2015, MIGUTI releases the independent album “Ponto de Ruptura” with MN Crew, including the viral single “Ofício”, which would open doors in 2016 to find a philanthropic organization in favor of job creation and against modern-day slavery and human trafficking, where Quincy Jones was an ambassador of and gave MIGUTI’s a moment for life: rapping to Quincy’s own soul-clap and being clapped at.
In 2020, Dubai, MIGUTI debuts acordamúsica on stage with a concert in its own name in Dubai, and with the help of guitarist and composer André M. Santos and singer-songwriter Osvaldo Vicente.
In 2022, MIGUTI speaks at Howard University, part of being honored as a Global Ambassador of Hip-Hop by Next Level, a program between Meridian International Center and the US State Department, the government of the United States of America.
In 2023, MIGUTI writes and performs with MoYah for world-broadcasted Eurovision’s Portugal Festival da Canção and focus to release his first major distributed singles spreading a message of love, union and overcoming.
